2024-25' CM4HL CHAMPS
Wings Over Worcester Clinch Historic Arena Cup Victory with Dramatic Win Over Mr. Gourmet Boston
In a thrilling championship showdown, the Wings Over Worcester delivered a stunning upset, dethroning the formidable Mr. Gourmet Boston to capture their first-ever Arena Cup. The two teams had been neck-and-neck throughout the season, with Wings Over Worcester finishing strong in second place, edging out Mr. Gourmet, who had been the regular-season powerhouse.
Mr. Gourmet, led by the unstoppable Kyle Cordaro, who amassed 9 points in just 2 playoff games, came into the championship with high hopes. Despite an incredible performance from goaltender Lauren Hennessey, who kept Gourmet in the game with a series of key stops, including a near-perfect first half that saw the score at just 3-2, the Wings surged in the second period.
With relentless pressure and a quick-fire 3 unanswered goals in just 2 minutes, Wings Over Worcester turned the tide decisively. Led by the resilience of Michael Tascione, the leadership of Joey Gilbert, Trevor Shea’s unshakable focus, Jake Kelleher’s precision, and Justin O'Connell’s clutch playmaking, the Wings soared to victory, securing their place in history.
It was an incredible display of skill, determination, and teamwork from both sides, and a testament to the level of competition in the league. Congratulations to Wings Over Worcester on their well-earned title, and we can’t wait to see what next season brings!
